The July edition of the Catholic Pic is now available to download here
In this video Fr John explains the forthcoming cautious reopening of St Stephen’s Church from Sunday 12th July and what you need to do before, during and after Mass.
Please note – the obligation to attend Sunday Mass has not been reinstated at this time
In this video, the Cardinal describes that we are not going back to the normal and familiar, emphasises the need for new volunteers and says that Mass in the short-term will be simpler and a bit shorter than usual.
The Archbishop has given permission for three churches in our Pastoral Area to open next week: St Benedict’s, St Joseph’s in Penketh, and St Mary’s Shrine.
These churches have been chosen because they are normally open each day for private prayer.
St Mary’s Shrine (from Monday 15 June)
Monday to Saturday
8.00 – 10.00 am and 4.00 – 6.00 pm
2.00 – 5.00 pm
St Benedict’s (from Tuesday 16 June)
Monday to Friday
10.30 am – 2.30 pm
10.00 am – 12.30 pm
St Joseph’s Penketh (from Wednesday 17 June)
Monday to Friday
10.00 am – 1.00 pm
If you call into any of these churches, you will be asked to sanitise your hands on entering and leaving, keep to a one-way system, and be guided to where you can sit or kneel. Social distancing must be followed at all times. Unfortunately, toilet facilities will not be available.
Please note: there is no obligation to come to church, and praying in our own way at home remains the norm at this time.
Lourdes Youth from parishes in Warrington and Widnes usually travel on Coach 6, but as the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage has been postponed they have decided to challenge themselves to run, cycle, or walk the 1002 miles they would have travelled to reach Lourdes.
They hope to raise funds by being sponsored £1 for each mile they ’travel’. If you feel able to donate and support our youth then please follow this link to make your donation: https://gf.me/u/x4wd3i
